The Colonizers

They came by night, in flying vessels that glowed and blinked in the darkness, of such immensity never before seen in the world. "The gods have come", the boy gasped, as he stared wide-eyed in amazement as the vessels flew past him one after another. The ground shook violently as the shock-waves generated from the passage of the vessels hit the village. "Mother!", the boy cried, "Come quickly! The gods have come!"... A mechanical voice sounded on the spaceship as lights began blinking on progressively within the vessel, "Destination arrived. World X854. Commencing De-hibernation sequence."... Deep within the hold of the spaceship, rows upon rows of hibernation pods could be seen. Hundreds? Thousands? It was hard to tell. One by one, smoke hissed as the covers of the pods opened...and within the smoke, a mechanized hand stretched out, grasping the edge of the pod... The Colonizers have arrived...
