Our core commitment

GW2Style does not sell personal data, use targeted advertising, or share personal data for advertising.

Data we handle

Depending on how you use GW2Style, we handle:

• Account data, including your username, email address, password hash, verification status, and authentication records.
• Optional profile data, including your Guild Wars 2 account name, region, and biography.
• Content you submit, including look names and descriptions, character details, skins, dyes, external image links, and publication dates.
• Messages you send us, including privacy requests, reports, claims, and supporting evidence.
• Technical data, including IP addresses, request details, device or browser information, security logs, and error reports.

Usernames, profiles, published looks, and their external images are public. You decide what to include in public biographies and descriptions.

Why we use it

• We use account, profile, and content data to provide the service you ask for, including registration, authentication, profiles, and publishing looks.
• We use limited technical data for our legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, and understanding the service.
• We preserve unclaimed content recovered from the former GW2Style site for our legitimate interest in community history.
• We handle data when needed to meet a legal obligation.

We do not currently rely on consent to handle personal data. Acknowledging this policy is not consent.

Service providers

We use the following services:

• Cloudflare carries site traffic through Cloudflare Tunnel, stores database backups in R2 under its EU jurisdiction restriction, and forwards incoming email.
• Plausible provides cookieless analytics for general page categories. We do not send usernames or private account pages to Plausible.
• Sentry processes error reports within the EU, including related technical details that may include IP addresses and request information.
• Mailtrap receives email addresses, message content, and temporary security links to send account emails.
• Proton stores messages forwarded to GW2Style's contact mailbox.
• Imgur hosts user-provided images. Images load directly from Imgur, which receives your IP address, browser information, and request details.
• ArenaNet provides public Guild Wars 2 game data and remotely hosted game images.

International transfers

The main application and database are hosted in the Netherlands. Plausible, Sentry, and our R2 backups use EU hosting or jurisdiction controls, and Proton is based in Switzerland. Cloudflare Tunnel may process traffic globally. Mailtrap currently processes data in the United States, and Imgur may also process data outside the EEA. Where required, providers use approved safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. You may contact us for more information.

How long we keep data

• Account, profile, and content data remains until you delete it or close your account.
• Verified account-closure requests are completed within 30 days.
• Deleted data may remain in restricted backups for up to 30 days.
• Expired authentication records and ordinary server logs are kept for up to 30 days.
• Sentry error reports are kept for 30 days.
• Mailtrap email content and delivery logs are kept for no more than 30 days.
• Plausible analytics are kept for 24 months.
• Routine correspondence and claim evidence are normally deleted within one year after the matter closes.

We may keep relevant records longer when needed for an active security incident, dispute, legal claim, or legal requirement.

Cookies and local storage

GW2Style uses cookies to maintain sessions, secure accounts, and optionally remember a login for 14 days. We also use a cookie to avoid counting repeated views of the same look in one day. Plausible analytics does not use cookies and we do not use any cookies for advertising purposes.

Archived content

GW2Style preserves profiles and looks recovered from the former site. Historical usernames, Guild Wars 2 account names, servers, profile details, and looks may remain public so former users can find their content. An original creator or other rights holder may ask us to correct, claim, or remove it.

We may ask for limited evidence connected to the old account. Once historical content is claimed, we handle it like other content belonging to that user, including deleting it if the account is closed.

Account closure and external images

To close your account, email [email protected]. We may ask for information needed to confirm that the account is yours. Closing an account deletes its profile, authentication records, submitted content, and stored image links from the live service.

Images are hosted outside GW2Style. Removing an Imgur link from GW2Style does not delete the image from Imgur; you must remove it there separately.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, or object to how we use it. Data copies are provided as JSON through a private link that expires after seven days. We normally respond within 30 days and may ask for information needed to confirm your identity.

Send requests to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or your local data protection authority.

Children

You must be at least 16 to create an account. We do not collect birth dates or offer a parental-consent process. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it and delete its content within 30 days after allowing time to correct a mistake.

Security

We use measures such as HTTPS, password hashing, access controls, limited retention, backups, and error monitoring to protect data. No online service can guarantee complete security.

Changes to this policy

We will show a new effective date when this policy changes. We will normally give registered users at least 30 days' notice by email and on the site before material changes take effect. Urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner, with notice as soon as practical.
