A Lamp in the dark

A river meandered through the dark landscape, flowing swiftly towards an unknown destination. Within the river, small balls of faint light glowed, travelling along with the current. She stood atop a hilly crest overlooking the river, cutting a forlorn figure. Yet, her eyes shone with determination as she grasped her staff resolutely, waving it to and fro. Upon the top of her staff, was a lamp, attached by a rusted metal chain. The lamp glowed an eerie green, casting a pale yellow upon her face. This was the river where lost souls gather.
