Aposematic Lepidoptera

Aposematic coloration is a term used to describe colors or patterns that act as a warning to predators that a potential prey species is toxic or dangerous. All vertebrates associate greens and blues with safety, and inherently regard red, orange, yellow and white as signs of danger. It is also widely accepted that patterns incorporating stripes or spots draw attention to objects. Butterflies are insects in the order Lepidoptera, which also includes moths. Adult butterflies have large, often brightly colored wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. There's your taxonomy lesson for the day :) She is both the predator and the prey. The beginnings of spring have started to show, and the last of the snows have started to melt away. She and her pets have awoken from their wintery slumber... hungry. Together they are a pack of small but masterful hunters. Any that would chose to attack should be wary. Hi o/ So I've always loved the butterfly wings and never could really come up with a concept to incorporate them. I wanted to move away from the bright and cheery looks and have something a bit more sinister. I hope that some of you may enjoy her :)
