In Nathaniel's eyes, dressing in all black and skulking around is more likely to draw attention than it is if one dressed appropriately and if one holds themselves with great respect. And who would suspect a bounty hunter to dress like a young noble, with crisp white clothes and glistening gold accents? Wouldn't that make it a pain to clean out the bloodstains from a successful bounty? Not that it matters, with each bounty comes good pay. He can just replace his robes if he must.
